Beauty schools and a cosmetology schools are similar.

In some cases hair schools and beauty schools are identical. However, there are many beauty schools that offer a variety of programs, and hair may only be one of them. That’s why regardless of a how a school labels themselves, it’s always best to simply ask the school what type of programs and courses they offer.

Some beauty/cosmetology schools, known as barber beauty schools, include programs for students interested in becoming a barber. At the same time, there are some barber schools that are independent and considered separate entities, with no affiliation to beauty or cosmetology programs.

There are many schools that focus exclusively on make up artistry. That’s their specialty and that’s all they teach. At the same time, however, there are some beauty and cosmetology schools that do offer programs and classes in make up artistry. To be absolutely sure, ask the school you’re considering what type of programs and courses they offer.

There are several things you can do to insure that the school you choose meets your needs. Go to a local salon and speak with a salon professional or manger and see if they have any recommendations, find out from the school(s) you’re considering whether students practice their skills on a cosmetology mannequin or real models, and ask the schools if you can contact a few graduates as a referrals
